Introduction In today’s culture, many shoppers consider what products they wish to buy before purchasing them. They consider where these products are coming from, as well as how these products were produced. Many products today are produced through conventional farming techniques, which means that crops have been treated with synthetic fertilizers and animals are given hormones and antibiotics. In the past, farming has greatly evolved and the methods that farmers have used to grow their crops have changed. In the early 1900’s farmers had natural methods of feeding soil and controlling pests. However, once the 1920’s hit, things drastically started to change. Knowing the difference is important because consumers will be able to make a choice on what type of product it is they wish to buy. Many organic food consumers believe that organic food is better in many ways and are willing to pay the high prices for the products. In this report we will examine reports and conduct studies on organic food products and how they compare to conventional food products to see whether there is any actual benefit to eating organically. Methods In order to gather information about organic foods’ health benefits and the reasons why people buy them, our group searched the Mohawk database for articles which have examined multiple studies done on the aforementioned subjects. In addition, Ms. Allen performed a survey asking people whether or not they buy organic food and what factors they take into account if they do. Introduction There are several different types of crimes committed against the elderly. A person is usually defined as elderly when he or she turns sixty-five or retires. The elderly population makes up a significant part of the United States population. Also, the population is expanding as the baby boomer generation began to retire. The baby boomer generation has raised some concern, because it is suspected that the baby boomer generation will be wealthier than in the past. This could lead to an increase in crimes committed against the elderly. Crimes committed against the elderly included property crimes, abuse, neglect, and fraud. Financial abuse occurs in three different ways. The first form of finical abuse committed against the elderly is misconception. The elderly are tricked in to giving their money to strangers. This type of finical abuse involves cons and scams. An example of this can be an elderly person paying shipping taxes for a prize they one. However, there is no prize and someone pockets the money. Sadly, this type of finical abuse is most common and the number of reported scams and cons doubled from 7% in 2008 to 14% in 2010 (Shilling, 61). The second type of finical abuse is Fraud. According to Financial Elder Abuse by Dana Shilling, â€Å"51 % of frauds were committed by strangers, and 34% by family, and neighbors (59).† There have been many case of fraud against the elderly including AARP, Medicaid, and Medicare fraud. The elderly are not receiving the benefits from these companies due to fraud. The third type of finical crime is occupation. This type of crime is based on the need for money. A family, caregiver, or friend exploits the elderly for money or a place to live. The elderly may not realize that the caregiver is using them or using their money for personal gain. Analysis of the article I agree with the steps that were taken by the Australian Department of Health which was related to the prevention of the spread of Hepatitis A among the people of the city through the employee who was diagnosed with the disease. This step was able to increase the awareness among the employees and the visitors of the restaurant about the symptoms of disease and way it can spread. However, I do not agree with the behaviour that was shown by the management of the famous restaurant. The officials of the restaurants did not try to alert the diners of the restaurant about the issues that can be caused by the food handled by the worker who was diagnosed with the disease. The restaurant owners had informed the Australian Department of Health about the issue and the department has taken steps to solve this issue (Richmond et al. 2017). I agree with the statement that was given by Dr. Finn Romanes, a senior health physician that the diners who ate food at the restaurant need to visit a general physician so that they can get a free vaccine for Hepatitis A. The restaurant management was also made aware of the symptoms that can occur in the patients suffering from this disease and seek medical help if required. The symptoms of the disease that were discussed by the doctors included, nausea, fever, vomiting, dark urine, yellow skin and yellow eyes as well. I agree with the warning that was given to the people of the city about the time period within which the virus of the disease can attack them. The infection related to Hepatitis A can is spread from the faeces of the person who is affected. The presence of the affected worker in the restaurant can be harmful for the diners and the other staff members of the restaurant as well (van Gemert et al. 2017). I agree with the advice that was given by the doctor related to the symptoms and the after effects of the disease for the staff of the restaurant and the diners as well. The Department of Health had spread awareness regarding the effect of the virus of the disease on the food that will be served to the diners of the restaurant. The virus can be spread if the workers do not clean their hands after using the toilet (MacLachlan, Locarnini and Cowie 2015). I agree with the awareness that has been spread by the Australian Department of Health about all the aspects of the disease and the ways by which it can affect the diners who visit the restaurant. The disease can be spread if the by the infected objects, food and the beverages which are used to serve food to the diners. I totally agree with the initiative that has been taken by the Department of Health by providing free vaccines to the other staff of the restaurant. The cases related to Hepatitis A has been on the rise before this incident was reported. I agree that the timely reporting of the incident has been helpful in creating awareness among the patrons and the diners of the restaurant about the effects of the disease. The restaurant owners also need to spread awareness among the diners of the restaurant so that the staff and the diners can be made aware of the effects of the disease. The Wieght Of Puishment THE WEIGHT OF PUNISHMENT Capital punishment, known as the death penalty is not practiced in all states. In order to receive or qualify for the death penalty you would have to commit murder, which is taking an innocent person life away from our society. To commit an unpleasant act like that a person has to be ill and immoral. When I see people holding up signs, marching or giving speeches on how we have to abandoned the death penalty I get sick to my stomach. Any person that was willing to take a innocent persons life away should be willing to live up to the punishment. If we do without the death penalty that will not give any seriousness to the act of murder. I fully agree with capital punishment. For the utilitarian, punishment is only regarded to as if there is happiness created and unhappiness not created. From the utilitarian point of view capital punishment is good if it prevents or deters the criminal from repeating the crime and also deters others in acting out a crime in the future. One problem utilitarian thoughts have are, first of all utilitarian try to reduce the amount of unhappiness as much as they can, in doing that they are also reducing the amount of punishment given for the act of murder. So by this fact it is wrong to reduce the amount of punishment just to create happiness. A murder deserves every ounce of punishment that comes along with the price of killing. The retributive thoughts of capital punishment, first of all is that all criminals earn punishment and also adding to this is that the punishment should be equal in treatment to the crime. Retributive also complies with an eye for an eye, just like the amount of punishment is based on the degree of the crime. The problem with retributive thinking is that if you kill two people the punishment you deserve far more then just the killing of you, but the killing of one of your family members. The retributive opinion is more on a personal minded justification, for example if you speak to a victim who just had his wife and daughter killed by another person he will want the same done to him because of the pshycolgical effect that was put on the victim. My opinion on the death penalty is that if you commit a killing you deserve the punishment that comes along with it. I wonder why the states wait an average of twenty years to put a murder in the chair; there should not be a gap between the crime and the punishment. Every day after the killer gets to live after the crime he or she is being treated unfairly toward the victim's rights. I am not talking about a criminal act consisting of stolen goods or assault of another person I'm talking about taking innocent persons life for no reason. I think that is a very sick and unlawful act to commit; the penalty should be issued as fast as possible, to show the importance of innocent life. Capital punishment should always be practiced; it is or can be thought of as a controller of society. In other words it is like a ruler, those who follow will not receive punishment, and those who do not follow it will receive the punishment. The public deserves the safety of the capital punishment. Capital punishment frightens people thinking about committing a crime. This is a proven fact; you can look up the histories of states with the death penalty and see that the killing rate has gone down since the law was passed. Most people fear death and capital punishment is fear itself, many people will avoid coming to conflict with the law. Putting someone on life without parole is like giving him a gift. Some people will murder or commit a crime just to be sent to jail, they feel like it will be a better life for them. They get three meals a day and have a shelter to stay in, but we do not want to give a criminal what he wants, we want to give him the maximum punishment for his
